Experience

When I joined the firm in 2006 I began my career as receptionist. I was delighted when the firm recognised my potential and encouraged and supported me to develop my skills and train to be a Legal Executive through the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx). I studied in the evening at City College whilst working full time and completed and passed my final exam in January 2012. I have recently become a Chartered Fellow of CILEx following completion of 3 years’ post qualification experience.  I am also Treasurer of the Coventry & Warwickshire CILEx Branch Committee.

I was born and brought up in Coventry and attended Tile Hill Wood School and Language College. In my spare time, I enjoy attending fitness classes, watching rugby, socialising, attending concerts and travel – highlights being swimming with dolphins in Mexico and visiting the Empire State Building in New York. Whilst on honeymoon in 2015, I visited Thailand, travelling to Bangkok and Koh Samui.

My family and I have raised thousands of pounds fundraising for Motor Neurone Disease Association by holding many charity events over the years and have have recently taken part in the Coventry Santa Dash, raising over £300 for The Myton Hospices.  I have also taken part in a Wolf Run and raised over £400 for Heart of England Community Foundation.

Midlands Business News - Smashed targets sees promotions at Midlands law firm

9th June, 2016

A series of promotions and appointments have been made at a Coventry law firm after smashing its financial targets.

Band Hatton Button has promoted lawyers Marta Fisher, Helen Bowns and Karen Ross to associate in recognition for their contribution to the business, client development and the integral roles they have played within their respective teams.

At the same time, Keri Wood has also qualified as a lawyer in the wills, trusts and probate team.

To help meet demand, the firm’s residential conveyancing team has also appointed Jade Dooley who is part-way through training to be a legal executive.

Since joining Band Hatton Button only last year, Marta Fisher has carved out a strong client base in corporate work, advising client sales and purchases of business and shareholder agreements.

Helen Bowns has been recognised for her sterling work for the firm’s family team, working on cases ranging from wealth protection to children disputes, pre-nups and post-marital agreements.

Residential conveyancing lawyer Karen Ross has also played a key role in one of the firm’s busiest departments, fuelled by the resurgent property market and landlords trying to beat the stamp duty hike that came in at the start of April.

Mark Moseley, managing director at Band Hatton Button, said the promotions reflected the company’s policy of nurturing talent and career development.

He said: “The promotions are well-deserved for Marta, Helen and Karen who have upheld a high-quality service amid growing demand.  Whilst Keri’s recent qualification is a result of her own hard work and we’re delighted to have her as part of the team going forward.

“This is also all on the back of the recent promotion of head of residential conveyancing Sarah Avern to partner as a result of her and her team’s stellar performance over recent years and her contribution to the firm’s strategy.

“Around three quarters of the work we do comes to us via recommendation because of the quality of our staff, their expertise and the exemplary levels of customer service we strive to give at all times”.
