Paul obtained his honours degree in law from Lancaster University, his postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the College of Law in Chester (now the University of Law) and also has a Masters Degree in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Manchester.Paul has wide ranging experience in many areas of law, but specialises in dispute resolution and insolvency work. He has experience in dealing with high value contentious matters ranging from directors’ and shareholders’ disputes to contractual and tortious disputes. Paul adopts a pragmatic and commercial approach to all matters, cutting through the emotion that can often cloud judgments and ensuring that Clients’ commercial interests are kept firmly at the forefront of his instruction.
Having been trained in a niche commercial firm, Paul has a breadth of experience the envy of many of his peers. He can advise on all types of business dispute; from contractual disputes and shareholders disputes, to intellectual property infringement and insolvency. His experience allows to him to recognise the commercial impact of any form of litigation, providing him with the insight and drive to push towards early settlement for the benefit of the client as often as possible.
Heading up the commercial litigation team, Paul's style is one of approachability. He prides himself on being accessible to people from all walks of life, and can communicate as effectively with the CEO of a multimillion pound international business as he can with an individual with a small consumer issue. His knowledge of the law and ability give his clients the confidence to know that they are being represented by one of the best in the North West. He is also a strong advocate for the firm's approach of becoming "one of your team", building strong, lasting relationships of trust and confidence with Clients, which is reflected in the fact that Paul receives instructions from Clients he met more than 10 years ago.
