Although I head the firm`s Corporate & Commercial Department ( which is a role that I have fulfilled for more than 24 years) and as a result become involved in a wide variety of work, I am happiest working on corporate deals, both public and private, in particular mergers, acquisitions and leveraged buy-outs.
As a result of spending some years of my career specialising in banking law, I am also actively engaged in banking and financing work.
My approach to most of the work is to co-ordinate teams involving one or more fee earners in the firm.
I also fulfil a number of administrative roles: Compliance Officer for Legal Practice; Money Laundering Reporting Officer; Complaints Partner; and Data Protection Officer. I also deal with all professional indemnity issues on behalf of berg.
Particularly in light of my function of handling complaints, I consider client care, both for those clients with whom I work directly and also more widely across the firm, to be of paramount importance.

I trained and subsequently worked in the City of London for a number of years.
I also spent more than 3 years practising as a corporate, commercial and banking lawyer in Hong Kong.
The highlights of my career have been advising on 3 privatisations (Merseyrail, Regional Railways North East and the Port of Bristol) and leading a team which dealt with the first ever issue of publicly listed stock by a university.
I have also represented a number of listed companies, in Hong Kong as well as in England.
Financial institutions which I have represented include Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC, Bank of America, Alliance & Leicester, The Co-operative Bank and Davenham Group. My firm is also on the panels of Nationwide, Metro Bank and Together.
