Manchester, United Kingdom
I am well regarded amongst clients and peers for delivering practical and client focussed advice on all manner of wills, trusts and estate planning including offshore and contentious matters.
I advise a broad range of private clients including many of the North West's wealthiest families on wills, trusts and Inheritance Tax planning. I specialise in estate planning for owner managed businesses, securing the smooth devolution of assets to the next generation tax efficiently and advising non UK domiciled clients on domicile, residence and UK Inheritance Tax. I am one of the few advisers outside London with experience of Inheritance Tax planning for Indian domiciled clients putting in place dual will structures and liaising with HMRC in relation to Double Tax Treaties.
I am also very experienced in contentious wills and trusts work advising on all manner of disputes arising out of wills, estates and trusts including claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 and am well known for finding pragmatic solutions to complex problems. I am rated and named in the main legal Directories as an "exceptionally bright trusted adviser to whom many high net worth clients for high value significant work".
I have experience of both UK and offshore trust structuring and advising trustees and beneficiaries in relation to day to day management and administration of trusts and estates comprising businesses, investments and land.
I studied law at Merton College Oxford, trained at London City Firm Herbert Smith LLP, then worked in the Private Client Team of major London firm Macfarlanes before moving to Manchester joining Addleshaw Goddard and most recently Pannone Corporate LLP. I am STEP qualified and have also sat on the Law Society Capital Taxes Committee.
