Founded in 1889, Lees Solicitors is a leading law firm with a team of experts who are specialists in a wide range of legal matters from personal law to business law. Lees Solicitors became part of the Jackson and Canter Group in 2016.
I joined Lees Solicitors and the Court of Protection department in Summer 2014, shortly after qualifying as a solicitor.
I am part of a team of 4 solicitors, 4 paralegals/trainees and 4 administrators and together we work on a case load of around 180-200 matters ranging from deputyships, assisting lay deputies, statutory wills and trusts. Jane MacGregor, the department head and Deputy is also a panel deputy so we receive a range of referrals from the Court of Protection and social services.
We deal exclusively with property and financial affair matters which includes investment portfolios, benefit reviews, financial assessments (i.e. social services), property sale, purchases and adaptations and budgeting funds appropriately in line with the aim, objective or need of a particular person.
We tailor our services to the needs and nuances of the individual and as an individual, I work closely with the patient, their friends/family and support team in order to move forward in the best interests, taking the time to find out what their feelings and wishes are. No two patients are the same and it is important that each person is treated in a manner bespoke to them.
I personally have a case load of 70+ cases and the client base ranges from children up to adults who suffer with a variety of physical and mental disabilities, often as a result of personal injury / clinical negligence or dementia / Alzheimer's disease.
Through personal development, I stay focused on being able to provide an innovative yet realistic approach to dealing with Deputyship patient's and am able to be flexible in order to meet the needs of the patient as well as acting in their best interests at all times.
If you have any questions then I would be happy to be contacted to discuss your circumstances.
