Divorce, Civil Partnership Dissolution, Judicial Separation and Annulment Petition

To start the process, you will need to complete and submit a petition. There is also a mandatory court fee of £550. If you are on a low income, or certain benefits, you may be entitled to an exemption from the court fee, please see the Court Fee Exemption section.

Decree Nisi or Conditional Order

Once the respondent has returned their Acknowledgement Of Service, you will be sent a copy by the Court. You will then need to complete the forms to apply for the Decree Nisi.

Decree Absolute

After a minimum period of 6 weeks and one day after the date of the Nisi being granted, the petitioner may then apply for the Decree Absolute.

Children Act Forms

If you wish to make an application to the court in respect of your children (or grandchildren) then you will need to complete the appropriate form. For most new applications, there is a mandatory court of £215, unless you are exempt from paying court fees.

Financial Orders

If you wish to apply to the Court for financial remedy then you will need to complete the appropriate form. There is a court fee of £50 for a consent order (where both parties agree), and a court fee of £255 where the parties are in dispute; unless you are exempt from paying Court Fees.
