I currently head the Wills Trusts & Estates team at our Heswall office where I have been based since 2012.

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2003 I have undertaken all aspects of private client work including, but not limited to drafting both standard and bespoke Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney; administering both taxable and non-taxable estates; providing clients with bespoke Inheritance Tax Advice; and acting on behalf of professional Trustees in the administration of Trusts.  I am currently head of the Wills

When I first started practising people seemed mainly to be concerned with mitigating their potential Inheritance Tax (IHT) liability.  Following changes in legislation, such as the introduction of the transferable individual IHT allowance in 2007, people now seem less anxious about IHT however the demand for a solicitor who can offer expert advice has increased.  Due to changes in family dynamics or concerns about future care fees, I have found there is now an even greater demand for bespoke Wills and for a solicitor who can 'think outside the box' to ensure the client's needs are met.

I have also gained a lot of experience in administering complex estates.  I have acted on behalf of executors who have been in dispute with HM Revenue & Customs regarding the potential IHT liability of an estate.  After a lot of technical arguing I have assisted the executors in reaching an agreement with HM Revenue & Customs which were beneficial to the estate.

I am  a member of Solicitors for the Elderly which shows that I have the relevant expertise to be recognised in this area of law.

I speak both English and Welsh
